Installed a couple of cheap LED auxiliary lights on the WRR today, to replace the ones that were installed by the previous owner but didn’t work. These are flood style, wide spread for close environment illumination. Wiring wasn’t too bad, though I ditched the PO’s ground wire running all the way back to the battery negative and replaced with a short lead grounding to the chassis ( spade connector tucked under a radiator mount bolt going into the frame) .

With the bike off:

With the bike on, just OEM lights:

But the real difference is from the rider’s perspective.

I’m very pleased with the results, given the lights were $16.99 shipped from Amazon .

Tha t is one awesome bike!!! Those lights are also seemingly popular with Goldwing owners, too.

I’ve never owned anything like it before so it’s hard to describe objectively. It’s basically a street legal dirt bike. Very tall seat height, g obs of suspension travel, very light (under 300 lbs), not very powerful. I think it’s rated for about 24hp from the factory. It’s quick up to about 60 but with the 49 tooth rear sprocket, 75 is the end of the world for it. That’s a real 75mph though, as the previous owner installed a speedo healer to dial in the speedometer so it is GPS-verified accurate. Stock rear is a 43 tooth, so it will probably do ~85 on that. I didn’t get it for highway cruising though, I got it for off road adventuring, so I’m cool with leaving the larger sprocket on to keep it geared lower.

While fully street legal, this is definitely not a street bike!

I haven’t ridden it much yet, but once I get some new rubber on it I’ll be trying out some nearby ATV trails to see how she really handles.

Awesome!!! Thanks for the little write-up! My little two stroke enduro rides like a Grom but a little more wobbly and faster. So I was curious about how a modern bike rides.

I think the next area of motorcycling I want to try out is offroading, specifically maybe adv riding. :)

There are tons of options, but having actually ridden a big adv bike, my advice is that less is more. You don’t need 500+ pounds of big displacement machinery to go on an adventure. The lighter the bike, the easier it is to actually take off the beaten path, and more importantly, the easier it is to pick back up when you inevitably fall over. My big priority for a dual sport was that it weigh less than 300 lbs wet, ready to ride. First choice was a Yamaha TW200, but the carburetor really turned me off. I’m so done with carbureted bikes and their finicky upkeep. I’ve been so spoiled by fuel injection, I don’t think I’ll ever buy another carbureted bike again.
